Best clam chowder near Cannon Beach and Manzanita
As you might expect, Cannon Beach and Manzanita are loaded with places serving really, really good clam chowder. Here’s a handful:
Seasons Cafe (Downtown Cannon Beach) — Terrific lunch spot with a nice selection of sandwiches and soups, including a tasty chowder.
Neahkahnie Bistro (Manzanita) — A lovely little spot in Manzanita, Neahkahnie Bistro owner/chef Lynne Hopper’s clam chowder gets rave reviews from visitors and locals.
The Wayfarer (Midtown Cannon Beach) — Chef Josh Archibald makes a flavorful, creamy clam chowder that will really fill you up.
Mo’s (South Cannon Beach) — An Oregon Coast tradition, Mo’s has served us New England-style clam chowder with bacon since the 1940s.
Driftwood (Downtown Cannon Beach) — For years Driftwood has been a favorite spot for excellent clam chowder, which can be ordered by cup, bowl or sourdough bread bowl.
Big Wave Cafe (Manzanita) — Sitting right at Hwy 101 and Laneda Avenue next to Manzanita Lumber, Big Wave serves up savory clam chowder in an open, bright space.
Ecola Seafood Restaurant & Market (Downtown Cannon Beach) — Thankfully, Ecola Seafood is back in business after an electrical fire in the summer of 2018 forced a four-month shut-down. Fresh, homemade clam chowder is a staple at this family-owned spot on Spruce at Second Street.
Buttercup (Nehalem) — Located on the main strip in Nehalem, this cute little spot does two things and two things only: Ice cream and chowder. And the chowder is legit. They serve several kinds of chowder, but the Northwest Clam Chowder is excellent.
Cannon Beach Cafe (Downtown Cannon Beach) — Fresh, scratch-made clam chowder makes Cannon Beach Cafe’s offering creamy and filling.
Warren House Pub (South Cannon Beach) — The chowder at Warren House is different from most others along the coast in that it’s Manhattan-style chowder (tomato based). Hearty and zesty, this chowder is best enjoyed out on the pub’s awesome front deck.
Pelican Brewing (Midtown Cannon Beach) — Pelican is known for its wonderful selection of craft beers (oh, how I love the Sun Flare seasonal ale), this brewery cooks up a thick, buttery clam chowder with plenty of bacon, potatoes and (of course) clams.
