Ecola State Park: A gang of elk is often grazing near the parking lot in Ecola State Park, which is just north of Cannon Beach. Just take East Fifth Street north and veer right at Ecola State Park Road. Please adhere to the posted speed limits.

Old Cannon Beach Elementary School (Fir Street at Beaver Street): Adjacent to the old Cannon Beach Elementary School is Necus Park, on Fir Street right at the bridge over Ecola Creek, old Cannon Beach Elementary School. This is a favorite spot for the elk, which often wander around the open green field next to the creek.

Sunset Blvd. at Hwy 101: Elk often gather on the open space at the Sunset Blvd. exit from Highway 101 into Cannon Beach. When they do, please drive carefully to avoid them — and other drivers who may have slowed down.

On West Ocean Lane in Arch Cape: On occasion, in the evenings, elk wander down through the Arch Cape forest on the east side of Highway 101 and onto Ocean Lane, right outside The Inn at Arch Cape. One foggy evening in October, we turned off 101 onto West Ocean Lane, heading to The Inn, and were welcomed by a small gang of 5-6 elk.
